How the mandala maker works
Every layer is a genuine hypotrochoid or epitrochoid drawn from gear ratios in the physical Spirograph set, so its symmetry is mathematically exact: a 32-petal layer repeats every 11.25°, no freehand wobble anywhere. The ✨ Mandala button composes layers for you — one click picks a ring, stacks two to four wheel patterns on it in different colors, and draws them in sequence. Prefer to build your own? The Copies control redraws any single curve as evenly rotated copies that interleave between the petals, turning one pattern into a kaleidoscope, and the start-tooth slider rotates a layer by exact gear teeth for fine-grained radial designs.
From generator to coloring page
When a design is finished, the 🖨 Coloring page button re-renders it as clean black lines on white for printing, PNG and SVG export capture it at high resolution, and 🎬 Animate records the layers drawing themselves as a video. If you'd rather start from a finished design, the printable spirograph mandala coloring pages are pre-composed and every one of them opens back here with its layers intact — or browse all 72 gear combinations to find a favorite ring of petals to build on.
